Snacks with leftover food | Less oily snack

This snack is very simple and quick to make, It serves as a great party appetizer, evening snacks or light dinner. Serve these snacks with Green chutney or ketchup and enjoy this with your kids, they will surely love this delight. This kind of recipe is best for light dinner and evening snacks but one can even try this for breakfas or lunch.

Let’s learn step by step process to prepare this recipe.

Easy Evening snack, breakfast recipe with leftover food

For Muthiya Preparation

  • 1 tsp Chopped green chilli
  • 1 tbsp Jalapeno
  • 1 tbsp Of each green and black olives
  • ¼ Cup Grated carrots
  • ¼ Cup Cooked rice (Leftover rice )
  • ¼ Cup Cooked vegetables (Any leftover veggies )
  • 2 tbsp Chopped onion
  • ½ tsp Turmeric powder
  • ½ tsp Salt (As per the taste )
  • 2 tbsp Semolina
  • 2 tbsp Gram flour
  • ½ tsp Garam masala powder
  • ½ tsp Coriander powder
  • 1 tbsp Maggi masala or any masala of your choice
  • ½ tsp Cumin seeds

Tempering Preparation

  • ½ tbsp Mustard oil
  • ½ tsp Black mustard seeds
  • ½ tsp cumin seeds
  • ½ tsp white sesame seeds
  • 5 Pieces Curry Leaves
  • ¼ tsp Asafoetida
  • 5 slit Green chilli
  1. In a bowl add all the ingredients.



  2. Mix to prepare a dough like consistency and keep it aside for 30 minutes.



  3. Meanwhile prepare a steamer, you can even use idli stand or any steamer.



  4. Place a plate or any container then place the shapes as shown.



  5. Cover and cook it for 10 to 20 minutes, then check it whether it is done or not, then keep it aside, let it cool down.



  6. Prepare tempering by adding mustard seeds, and all the ingredients for tempering.



  7. Put the muthiya and sear the skin so that it can turn golden from outside.



  8. Serve it with any chutney or sauce of your choice.
