Brown Chickpea Chola Recipe (Without Onion And Garlic)

Brown chickpea chola is very delicious and can be cooked by several techniques. There are several dishes associated with this chola recipe, I’ve not used onion and garlic in this recipe but for creaminess and thickness I’ve used potato. Let’s learn step by step process to prepare this recipe. 

Brown Chickpea Chola Recipe (Without Onion And Garlic)

  • 1 cup Overnight soaked Brown Chickpeas
  • 1/2 cup Boiled and mashed potatoes
  • 2 tbsp Boiled Peas
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 tsp Dry roasted Cumin and carom seeds
  • 1 tbsp Salt
  • 1 tbsp Mustard Oil
  • 1 tsp Coriander Leaves
  • 1 tsp Sabji masala without onion grlic
  • 1 tbsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 tbsp Coriander Powder
  • 1 tbsp Kashmiri mirch powder
  • 1 piece Bay leaf
  • 1 Piece Dried Red Chili
  • 1 tsp Coriander Seeds
  • 1 Piece Green Cardamom
  • 2 Pieces Tomatoes
  • 1 tsp Green Chili
  • 1 tsp Funnel Seeds
  1. Heat oil in a pressure cooker and add bay leaf, cumin seeds and dried red chili.
  2. In a grinding jar add coriander seeds, funnel seeds, tomatoes, green chilies and cardamom.
  3. After grinding them add boiled potatoes and green peas in the same jar and take a whirl around. Add this paste in the cooker and stir fry them unless aroma stars emerging.
  4. Add salt, turmeric powder, coriander powder sabi masala, kashmiri mirch powder and mix them well.
  5. Add a cup of water and pressure cook it with 4 whistle.
