Jackfruit (Kathal) Curry Recipe

Jackfruit curry is prepared when it is raw, ripened jackfruit curry is not suggested. It is very delicious when combined with a different concoction of spices, the aroma of spices enhance its taste. let’s learn how to cook jackfruit curry recipe.

Jackfruit (Kathal) Curry Recipe

  • 1/2 Kg Raw Jackfruit
  • 2 Medium Roughly Sliced Onion
  • 2 tbsp Garlic Cloves
  • 1 tsp Chopped Ginger
  • 1 tbsp Chopped Green chilli
  • 1 tbsp Mixed Curry Masala
  • 1 tbsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 tbsp Garam Masala Powder
  • 1 tbsp Degi Mirch / Red Chili Powder
  • 1 tbsp Salt
  • 1 tbsp Coriander Powder
  1. If you have sliced jackfruit then its good, and if not then instead of cutting it boil it directly in a pressure cooker with 1 tbsp of salt and 1 tsp of turmeric. (Pressure cook it with 3 whistle)

  2. Take all the sliced ingredients ready as shown in the image.

  3. After boiling the jackfruit with the help of knife remove its outer cover and slice it as per your choice.

  4. Heat mustard oil in a pan and add sliced jackfruit.

  5. When it turns golden brown from both the sides then switch off the flame and remove it from the oil and put it aside.

  6. Heat oil in another pan and add cumin seeds when it tampers add chopped onion, garlic, ginger and greenn chili into it.

  7. When onion turns golden brown then add jackfruit pieces into it.

  8. After few minutes add all the spices and mix it well.

  9. Add half a cup of water into it and mix it well cook it for 10 more minutes and turnoff the flame.

  10. Garnish it with coriander leaves and serve it with boiled rice.
