Makhana (Lotus Seeds) Fry Recipes

Makhana is considered as non grain and eaten during fast, it is aquatic crop which is harvested and cultivated in several districts of northern Bihar (India). It is highly nutritious and considered as super food. Even there are several recipes which can be prepared, although it can be eaten raw. Here I am sharing a fasting dish, let’s learn how to prepare this recipe.

Makhana (Lotus Seeds) Fry Recipes

  • 1 cup Makhana (Lotus Seeds)
  • 1 tbsp Clarified butter (Ghee)
  • 2 tbsp Roasted Peanuts
  • 1 tbsp Curry Leaves
  • 1 tbsp Black Mustard Seeds
  1. Heat one tbsp of ghee in a pan and roast peanuts and when it turns golden brown then remove it from the pan.
  2. In the same pan add makhana and roast it unless it becomes crunchy and put it aside.
  3. Now add black mustard seeds and curry leaf and let it tamper.
  4. Add roasted makhana and peanuts along with one tbsp of rock salt and serve it.
