Matar Paneer (Peas and Cottage Cheese) Curry Recipe

Cottage cheese and peas together make a very sumptuous delight, it can be served with rice or any flatbread. The concoction of spices adds exotic aroma into it. Let’s learn step b step process to cook matar paneer curry recipe.

Matar Paneer (Peas and Cottage Cheese) Curry Recipe

  • 1 cup Cubes of cottage cheese
  • 3 tbsp Green Peas
  • 1 cup Tomato Puree
  • 1/2 cup Paste of Garlic, ginger, onion and green chili
  • 1 tbsp Coriander Leaves
  • 1 tbsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 tbsp Salt (As per your taste)
  • 1 tbsp Degi Mirch / Red Chili Powder
  • 2 tbsp Chopped Onion
  • 2 tbsp Vegetable Oil/Ghee (Clarified Butter)
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 tsp Coriander Powder
  • 1 tsp Garam Masala Powder
  1. Heat a pan and let the cumin seeds splutter, add oil followed by chopped onion and let it turn translucent.
  2. Add grind pure of tomato and paste of onion, ginger, garlic, green chili and stir fry unless its fat separates.
  3. Add dry spices including turmeric powder, coriander powder, degi mirch, garam masala and salt
  4. Mix them well so that aroma of spices comes out.
  5. Add two cups of water and let it boil.
  6. At the same time swallow fry cottage cheese cubes, you can boil them even instead of frying them.
  7. Add peas in the pot of boiling gravy, if you are using fresh peas then at the time of frying spices add them, but here I’m using frozen peas so it is not required to fry them.
  8. When cottage cheese becomes golden brown then remove them on kitchen towel.
  9. Add cottage cheese cubes in boiling curry gravy and let them cook for ten minutes.
  10. Garnish it with coriander leaves and muttar paneer curry is ready to be served.
