Moong And Toor Dal Fry (Tadka Dal) Recipe

  • 1/2 cup Toor dal
  • 2 tbsp Moong Dal (Lentil)
  • 1 tbsp Clarified butter (Ghee)
  • 1 tbsp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 tsp Chopped Garlic
  • 2 tbsp Chopped Onion
  • 2 tbsp Chopped Tomatoes
  • 1 tsp Chopped Green chili
  • 1 tsp Kashmiri lal mirch powder
  • 2 tbsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 tbsp Salt
  • 1 tsp kasoori Methi (Dried Fenugreek Leaves)
  • 1 tbsp Chopped coriander leves
  1. In a pressure cooker put half hour soaked and washed lentils along with salt, turmeric powder and 3 cups of water. Pressure cook them with 4 to 5 whistles. Meanwhile heat clarified butter in a pan.
  2. Add cumin seeds and let it splutter.
  3. Add chopped garlic and let it turn aromatic.
  4. Add chopped onion, tomatoes and green chili in the pan.
  5. Add turmeric powder, kashmiri lal mirch powder, kasoori methi and a pinch of salt and stir fry them unless the rawness disappear.
  6. Add cooked lentils in the pan and fry them together.
  7. When lentils become thick then switch off the flame garnish it with coriander leaves.
  8. Serve it with rice or chapatis.
