Potato-Jack fruit Appam Recipe

Under my experimental cooking yet another twist to the appam recipe, just a mold of twist to make this recipe more piquant. I have used few spices, potato and jack fruit although the batter is not like slurry as I want it little doughy consistency so that it may be crispy outside and moist inside, I’ve used binding agent none other than gram flour. Let’s learn step by step process to prepare this recipe.

Potato-Jack fruit Appam Recipe

  • 1 cup Boiled and mashed potato
  • 1 cup Mashed and boiled jack fruit
  • 4 tsp Gram Flour
  • 1 tbsp Mustard Oil
  • 1 tbsp Chopped Coriander leaves
  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp Kitchen king powder
  • 1 tsp Kashmiri lal mirch powder
  • 1 tsp Coriander powder
  • 1 tsp kasoori Methi (Dried Fenugreek Leaves)
  • 1 tbsp Salt
  1. Take mashed potato, jack fruit, gram flour and all the spices together in a bowl and make a batter with doughy consistency.
  2. It should look like this batter.
  3. Take appam pan and apply mustard oil to grease the tray properly and put it over the flame.
  4. With the help of spoon pour the mixture in the tray and let it cook.
  5. Flip it over to cook it from the other side and apply little oil.
  6. Appam is ready to be served with any sauce, mayonnaise or chutney.
