Puran Poli Recipe

Puran Poli is the recipe of Maharashtra (India), but there are several alike recipes available in other parts of India having different names. This recipe is very authentic and old and has its impacts on several other culture who are trying to rediscover some variance but as we all know originality can not be doped, So its variance do not have such appeal. Let’s learn how to cook this recipe.

Puran Poli Recipe

  • 2 cups Wheat flour
  • 1 cup Jaggery
  • 1 Piece Nutmeg
  • 1 cup Chickpea
  • 1 cup Clarified Butter (Ghee) (or Vegetable Oil)
  • 1 tbsp Mustard Powder
  1. Take wheat flour and add some oil and make a dough as shown in the image.
  2. Take chickpea and boil it with little mustard powder into it, segregate water with the help of strainer.
  3. Make a paste as shown in the image.
  4. Take Jaggery and desiccate it or grind it as shown in the image.
  5. Take nutmeg and grate it as shown in the image.
  6. In a pan add chickpea paste and jaggery and form the consistency as shown in the image.
  7. Take a portion of dough and make a boll shape as shown in the image.
  8. Make a bowl and put the fillings as shown in the image.
  9. Bind it and with the help of rolling pin and rolling board make flat bread as shown in the image.
  10. Heat a pan and put this flat bread and sear it from both the sides as shown in the image.
  11. Puran poli is ready to be served.
