Roat Laddu/Rote Recipe

Roat laddu is considered as most authentic recipe being offered to lord Hanuman, this prasad is almost on the verge of extinct as now people do not have much patience and even they have other options too in the market to bestow the blessings, but I’ve come up with this lost recipe. Since generations roat being cooked during festivals and people loves its delicacy in (Bihar) India. So let’s learn how to prepare roat.

Roat/Rote Recipe

  • 1 cup Clarified butter (Ghee)
  • 1 cup Wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup Milk (For making dough)
  • 1 tbsp Any crushed Dry Fruits (It may be coconut, cashewnuts, resins, almonds etc)
  • 1/2 cup Grated Jaggery
  • 1 tsp Cardamom Powder
  1. Take a deep utensil and knead dough of wheat flour with milk.
  2. Dough should not be very sticky, its consistency should be the same as shown in the image.
  3. With the help of rolling board and rolling pin prepare the flatbread as shown in the image.
  4. Heat pan and put the flatbread.
  5. With the help of fork poke the flatbread so that it can not bulge.
  6. Put some ghee and sear flatbread from both the sides.
  7. In a container add grated jaggery and put the flatbread in the same container.
  8. When it is hot then only try crushing it with hand and if it seems very hot and not bearable then use cooking spatula to crush flatbread and keep mixing into jaggery.
  9. Add all the ingredients like cardamom powder, crushed dry fruits mix it well. apply water in hand and prepare round shapes as shown in the image.
  10. Garnish it with holy basil and serve it.
