Spinach Lentils (Palak Dal) Recipe

Spinach lentils recipe is one of my favorite, I often cook this with rice. The virtue it carries is sumptuous, previously I shared this recipe with the concoction of toor lentils but this time I used split green lentils and split yellow peas. Let’s learn step by step process to cook spinach lentils recipe.

  • 1/2 cup Split Bengal Gram (Chana Dal)
  • 2 tbsp Moong Dal (Lentil)
  • 1/2 cup Spinach
  • 1 tbsp Salt
  • 1 tbsp Turmeric Power
  • 1 tbsp Chopped Coriander leaves
  • 2 Piece Bay leaves
  • 1 tbsp Clarified Butter (Ghee)
  • 1 tbsp Ginger Garlic Paste
  • 2 tbsp Chopped Onion
  1. Take both the lentils and soak in water for half an hour.
  2. In a pressure cooker add both the soaked lentils along with salt and turmeric and pressure cook it for 10 minutes or with 4 whistle.
  3. After cooking its consistency should be the same.
  4. Take all the ingredients as shown in the image.
  5. In a pan add bay leaves and clarified butter.
  6. In the same pan add chopped onion, ginger-garlic paste and dried red chili. Let it cook for sometime.
  7. Add chopped red tomatoes in the same pan.
  8. Add chopped spinach in the pan and mix them well.
  9. Stir fry it unless its rawness vanishes.
  10. Add cooked lentils in the pan and mix it well.
  11. Add chopped coriander leaves in the pan and serve it with rice or chapatis.
