Brown Gram Split lentils (Chana Dal) Chutney

Chana lentils chutney is very quick and delicious recipe just few ingredients and you will get delicious taste enhancer, I’ve not used garlic in this recipe  for longevity but it can use it if needed. Let’s learn step by step process to prepare this recipe.

Yellow Split Peas lentils (Chana Dal) Chutney

  • 2 tbsp Brown gram split peas/lentils
  • 1 tsp Coriander Seeds
  • 1 tbsp Curry Leaves
  • 1 tsp Mustard Oil
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Black Mustard Seeds
  • 1 Piece Dried red chilli
  1. Heat a griddle or a pan and dry roast brown gram split lentils along with coriander seeds.
  2. When you will notice aromatic smell of lentils then switch off the flame as we don’t need to make it brown.
  3. Heat a ladle (करछुल) or ball scoop and add black mustard seeds, curry leaves,dried red chili and let them splutter.
  4. At the same time take cooled down roasted lentils and coriander seeds in a grinding jar, by adding 2 tbsp of water take a whirl around.
  5. When you will get tempering sound from the ladle then add mustard oil and let it splutter properly.
  6. Empty the jar and pour the chutney in a bowl and add salt. (Note: you can even add curd, lemon juice etc as per your choice)
  7. Drizzle the tempering in the bowl and your chutney is ready, which can be served with either idli or vada recipe.
