Rice Kheer Recipe

Kheer or Rice kheer is ancient Indian cuisine, in South India this recipe is known as Payasum. Keer is the word derived from sanskrit word Cheer which means milk and payasum is derived from sanskrit word pyush which means amrit. This recipe holds its importance since ancient era, and it is cooked in various auspicious occasions. Let’s learn how to cook kheer.

Rice Kheer Recipe

  • 1 cup Soaked Rice (Soaked in water for 4 hours)
  • 1 tbsp Desiccated Coconut
  • 1 tbsp Cashewnuts
  • 1 tbsp Resins
  • 1 tbsp Almonds
  • 1 tbsp Khoya (Dried Whole Milk) (One can use condensed milk also)
  • 1 Litre Mik
  • 1 tbsp Cardamom Powder
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  1. Take a pan and add boiled milk followed by soaked rice and keep stirring.
  2. Add all the dry fruits except resins followed by cardamom powder and desiccated coconut.
  3. Add khoya or condensed milk and keep stirring after 5 minutes switch off the flame, add sugar and resins.
  4. Garnish it with dry fruits and serve it hot or cold as per your preference.
