Homemade Idli Recipe

I often come across people who are concerned about softness of idli and always wonders how to prepare soft idli, hence I’ve come up with a recipe which will suggest you how to prepare very soft idli.

Homemade Idli Recipe

  • 1 cup Idli rice
  • 1/2 cup Urad lentils
  • 1 tbsp Salt
  • 2 tbsp Flattened Rice
  • 1 tbsp Fenugreek Seeds
  1. Take a cup of idli rice and half a cup of urad lentils and fenugreek seeds in a container and soak it over night.
  2. Next morning soak flattened rice.
  3. Drain water from soaked ingredients.
  4. Grind all the ingredients as shown in the image.
  5. Add salt in the batter and mix it well.
  6. Cover the container and put it under the sunlight for 3 to 5 hours, after that you will notice the double amount of batter.
  7. In the idli steamer add water and let it boil, grease the idli mould and place the appropriate amount of batter in it and put it in the steamer.
  8. Keep checking it, when tooth peak comes out clean then switch off the flame.
  9. Serve it with your favorite chutney or sambhar.
