Khichdi Recipe
Khichidi (खिचड़ी) is the comfort food of Indian kitchen, It can be cooked by several ways I’ve added a twist in this recipe, there is a belief related to this recipe, that eating khichidi on Saturday will discard the affect of sani grah dosh (शनि ग्रह दोष). Khichdi recipe is very quick and nutritious due to concoction of lots of lentils and vegetables, even it is easy to digest. It can be served with curd, raita, papad, Chokha etc. Let’s learn step by step process to cook Khichidi recipe.

Khichdi (खिचड़ी) Recipe
- 1/2 cup Rice
- 1/3 cup Tuvar (Toor) Pulses
- 2 tsp Grated Carrot
- 2 tbsp Chopped Tomato
- 2 tbsp Chopped Bottle Gourd
- 2 tbsp Chopped Gourd Vine
- 2 tbsp Chopped Spinach Leaves
- 1 tsp Chopped Ginger
- 1 tsp Garlic
- 1 tbsp Butter (For Tampering)
- 1 tbsp Mustard Oil
- 1 tbsp Chopped Green chili
- 2 tbsp Turmeric Powder (We need more turmeric for this recipe)
- 1 tsp Red Chili Powder
- 1 tbsp Salt
- 1 tbsp Lentil Powder
- 1 tbsp Coriander Powder
- 1 tbsp Coriander Leaves
- 1 tbsp Cumin Seeds
- Soak separately rice and lentils and at the same time, Heat pressure cooker and add mustard oil in it, add cumin seeds followed by chopped green chili.
- Add all the chopped vegetables and cook it by stirring it.
- Take all the dried spices in a bowl.
- Add 2 tbsp of water in the bowl and mix it well.
- Add soaked and washed lentils and spice paste.
- Add half a cup of water and pressure cook it for 5 minutes.
- After 2 whistle turn off the flame and wait until its pressure vanishes. then add washed and soaked rice, salt and pressure cook it for 10 minutes.
- Add some butter, garnish it with coriander leaf and serve it.
