Chhena Poda, or Chenna Poda, is a popular dessert hailing from the picturesque state of Odisha. It is crafted using chenna or fresh paneer, sugar, and flavorings. Although the ingredients required for the Chhena Poda Recipe are minimal, it does demand some time due to the baking process. Traditionally, it is cooked on a chulha, a small earthen/brick stove. However, when prepared at home, it can be baked in an oven, earning it the name “paneer cake”. Chena poda literally means “roasted cheese” in English. It is believed to be Lord Jagannath’s favorite sweet, as he is the presiding deity of the Puri Jagannath temple in Odisha. Chena poda is also prepared during festive occasions such as Diwali or Durga puja. The process of making chhena poda is incredibly simple, surprising in its simplicity compared to other baking recipes that involve multiple steps. This one-bowl recipe is truly a breeze to prepare.   • ¼ Cup Cottage cheese (Prepare it by curdling the milk using lemon or vinegar )
  • ¼ Cup Assorted dry fruits and cardamom (Ground coarsely )
  • ¼ Cup Brown Sugar
  • ½ Cup Milk (For forming the batter )
  • 1 Tbsp Choco chips and raisins (For decoration)
  • ¼ Cup Semolina
  1. In a bowl add cottage cheese.



  2. Take some assorted dry fruits and cardamom pods crush it and add it into the bowl.



  3. Add brown sugar and mix everything with hand.



  4. Add milk and mix it well.



  5. Add semolina and knead it with your hand.



  6. Cover and let it rest for 20 minutes and add more milk if required.



  7. Prepare the cake tin by lining the butter paper.



  8. Add ¼ cup of clarified butter and mix everything well.



  9. Transfer the batter into the baking tin.



  10. Decorate it as per your choice.



  11. Bake it at 350 °F or 180 °C for 30 to 35 minutes.



  12. The recipe is ready to be served.
