Appam Recipe |Snacks and Appetizers| Evening Snacks Recipe

I am fond of South Indian dishes, so I tried my hand at many vegetarian dishes being prepared in all the southern part of India, some of them I have shared with you, but as language and water change in every mile, the way food and its combination also changes. I have learned the best way to prepare south Indian multipurpose batter. The batter recipe is given (here)  So if you want to try this recipe then it will help a lot in dosa, idli, appam, appe, uttapam, dhokla preparation. In this post, I am going to share the recipe, of appam with this batter. Let’s learn step by step process to prepare this recipe.

Appam Recipe with left over idli dosa batter

  • 1 Cup Dosa batter
  • 1 tbsp Chopped onion
  • 1 tbsp Chopped coriander leaves
  • 1 tbsp Chopped capsicum
  • 1 tbsp Chopped carrot
  • 1 tsp Black pepper powder
  • 1 tsp Roasted cumin powder
  • 1 tsp Red chilli powder
  • ¼ tsp Black salt
  • 2 tbsp Clarified butter
  1. Take 1 cup of idli batter in a bowl and mix the chopped veggies as shown.



  2. Add seasoning like salt, black pepper, roasted cumin powder, kashmiri red chilli powder, and black salt.



  3. Grease the appam pan and place the batter with the help of a spoon and cover and cook it.



  4. Flip it over and cook again and serve it with chutney and dips.
