Ashtang hridayam | अष्टाङ्गहृदयम् में क्या बताया है महर्षि वाग्भट ने

Vagbhata was the pupil of sage Charak, Sage vagbhata lived till the age of 135 years, and during the initial stage of his journey that is up to 18 years of his age, he captivates initial knowledge, in the latter half of his life he spent in intense researches and experiments through which he comes up with the repository of the knowledge which he jotted in the form of books known as Ashtang hridayam and Ashtang Shangraham.

These books consist of 7000 verses, which shows the avenue to stay healthy and disease-free. It is said that for one sutra or verses he did 500 experiments whose outcome he used to write in the one verse, so for 7000 verses, he spent his whole life in the researches and experiments for the healthy life of human beings.

Why people are unhealthy and diseased? why people of today’s world are prone to diseases? the answer is lack of information. People are unaware of Ayurveda. Ayurveda consists of two words “Ayu” meaning life and “Veda” meaning knowledge, and Ayurveda is the science of age, one can grab this knowledge to increase the age of the human being by keeping their body healthy and disease-free.

In Atharvaveda, Ayurveda is given in the detailed version, so Ayurveda is also known as upaved of Atharvaveda. There are two Samhita available these days, they are Charaka Samhita and Sushruta Samhita. It is said that for the morality, prosperity and contentment a healthy body is required and this can be grabbed only through Ayurveda. In India, the tradition of Teacher and Pupil is alive from the ages, and this knowledge has been bestowed to us through this tradition only, as after the burning of Takshila university several divine books got burnt which destroyed the eternal knowledge, but as teachers memorised them and they passed it to their pupils so today it is available in trivial form.

It is said that this knowledge was bestowed by Brahma to Prajapati, Prajapati passed it to Ashwini kumaras, which was transferred to Indra then it was grabbed by sage Atray and after that to his pupils.

It is said that Vata pitta and cough is the three dosh or culpability of our body, we have to keep them in balance to make our body healthy and disease-free. Vata is composed of Space and Air, Pitta of Fire and Water, and Kapha of Earth and Water.
