Hare Matar ki Ghughni | Bihari Matar ki Ghugni recipe |Green pea curry

Today I am going to share a very delicious and healthy recipe of green pea ghughni. It can be cooked with brown chickpea or sometimes with green pea. It goes well with fried flattened rice and puffed rice. But sometimes can be served with rice, paratha, or any flatbreads. This recipe is one of my picks from my childhood days,  I love the flavour and aroma of the recipe which reminds my childhood days. Nostalgia surrounds me when I choose this snack as an evening nitwit, as it is my mom’s recipe. I am maintaining the classic flavour of the old Indian cooking, due to raw spices. I am fond of playing with recipes but when it comes to the authenticity of the food, I often make the way our Indian moms use to cook. Let’s learn step by step process to prepare this recipe.

Hare Matar ki Ghughni | Bihari Matar ki Ghugni recipe |Green pea curry

  • 1 Cup Green pea
  • ½ tsp Oil
  • ½ tsp Cumin seeds
  • ¼ tsp Asafoetida
  • ½ tbsp Chopped garlic
  • ½ tbsp Chopped green chilli
  • 5 Piece Curry leaves (Optional)
  • ¼ Cup Chopped onion
  • 1 tbsp Coriander powder
  • ½ tsp Kashmiri red chilli powder
  • ¼ tsp Turmeric powder
  • ½ tsp Mango powder
  • ½ tsp Sabji masala powder
  • ½ tsp Garam masala powder
  • 2 tbsp Chopped coriander leaves
  • ½ tsp Ginger paste
  • ¾ Cup Chopped onion
  1. In a wok add oil, cumin seeds, asafoetida, and curry leaves, let them splutter.



  2. Add chopped garlic, onion, ginger, and garlic paste fry unless onion turns soft.



  3. Add chopped tomatoes and fry unless soft.



  4. Add spices like coriander powder, Kashmiri red chilli powder, mango powder, sabji masala powder mix it well.



  5. Add ¼ cup of water and salt to taste cover and cook it for a few minutes.



  6. Add green peas and cook for a few minutes, mix garam masala powder and garnish it with coriander leaves.



  7. Serve it hot with flattened rice, puffed rice, or any flatbread.
