Bean sprouts are very healthy and nutritious, they are easy to grow at home. They’re crunchy and perfect for throwing in stir-fries, soups, momos, parathas, and salads! I have tried to keep bean sprouts fresh for a longer duration, I generally do not grow my sprouts extra-large, but for making Chinese recipes it helps a lot, even some Indian recipes need such concoction just to enhance the flavor. My method of growing the sprouts is very effective and works well even in cold and hot weather. If you have been following me for a while, you will know that this is not my first post about sprouting seeds. I keep on sharing the recipes also including the sprouts. Let’s learn step by step process to prepare the long sprouts using mung beans.

How to grow Long sprouts at home | Long bean sprouts | Ankurit dalen

  • 1 Cup Mung beans
  • 3 Cup Water
  • 1 Piece Netted basket
  • 1 Piece Kitchen towel or a cotton cloth
  • 1 Piece Black cloth or a black plastic wrap
  • 1 Piece Big container with a lid
  1. In a container add washed mung beans and add 3 cups of water cover it and let it expand.



  2. After 5 to 7 hours.



  3. Strain it and prepare the setup.



  4. Place the netted basket on a container, place a cloth and spread the beans, cover it with black cloth and place the lid and keep it aside.



  5. Keep washing it every four hours and the next day it sprouted.



  6. After 7 days it will look like this.



  7. Place it in an airtight container and preserve it for further use.
