Hummus Recipe – Masala Flavor | Chickpea Chutney

Hummus is the recipe prepared using chickpea and several other concoction of spices, although hummus itself is an Arabic word which means chickpea. If we generalize the term then we can call this as chickpea chutney, I’ve given it an Indian touch by adding some flavors let’s learn step by step process to prepare this recipe.

Hummus Recipe

  • 1 cup Soaked chickpeas
  • 1 Piece Lemon
  • 3 Cloves Garlic
  • 1 tbsp Rocksalt
  • 1 tsp Kashmiri lal mirch powder
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper Powder
  • 1 tsp Roasted cumin seeds powder
  • 2 tbsp Cold pressed coconut oil
  • 3 tbsp Tahini (It is the mixture of sesame seeds, oil and a pinch of salt )
  • 1 tsp Mustard Oil
  1. Take these ingredients as shown in the image.
  2. In a pressure cooker add soaked chickpea along with a pinch of salt and turmeric powder just to give it a nice color.
  3. After 30 minutes or with 7 whistles remove it from the flame, take it out on strainer to drain extra water and cooling it up.
  4. Remove the outer cover of chickpeas.
  5. In a grinding jar add tahini, and chickpeas and take a whirl around.
  6. Then add rest of the ingredients.
  7. Add coconut oil and prepare a fine paste.
  8. Add water if required.
  9. Sprinkle kashmiri lal mirch powder along with few drops of mustard oil.
  10. Preserve it in airtight container and refrigerate it for further use.
