Gooseberry (Amla) Chutney Recipe – An Ayurvedic Super Food

Gooseberry (Amla) is considered a superfood in Ayurveda and according to Ayurveda the intake of gooseberry should be regular due to its immense health benefits. Hence for regular intake why not prepare gooseberry chutney? It is very simple, tasty and easy to prepare, you can refrigerate and use it for a week. Let’s learn how to prepare this recipe.

Gooseberry Chutney

  • 4 Pieces Gooseberry (Amla)
  • 3 Pieces Green Chili
  • 1 Cup Chopped Coriander leaves
  • 2 tbsp Salt (According to your taste)
  • 1 tbsp Mustard Oil
  • 5 Cloves Garlic
  1. Take four pieces of fresh Gooseberries
  2. Boil it for five minutes on medium to high flame and take out its seeds once it is cooled

  3. Take 3 pieces of fresh green chilli
  4. Take a cup of coriander leaves
  5. Add all the ingredients including green chilli, boiled gooseberries (without seeds), salt, mustard oil, cloves of garlic and half a cup of water in a grinding jar

  6. Grind it for few minutes and check the consistency as shown in the image.
  7. Take it out in a bowl and refrigerate it for some time. Enjoy it with sandwiches or any main course dishes.

Benefits:

  • Gooseberries have a significantly high amount of phenolic phytochemicals that are very helpful in fighting cancer, ageing, inflammation and neurological diseases.
  • They are moderately good in antioxidant value and an excellent source of vitamin – c, which increase immunity.
  • Gooseberries also contain some amount of vitamin A, vitamin B1, B5, B6.
  • It is very good for hair and eyesight.
  • Hence, for all obvious reasons, it is a known ayurvedic superfood. Interestingly as per ayurvedic mentions, gooseberry is one of the very few sour veggies that can be taken with milk!
