This traditional Indian beverage is also known as golden milk. It is becoming increasingly popular in the West because of its health-promoting properties. An easy way to add turmeric to your diet is to drink turmeric milk. This health tonic is made by mixing turmeric into milk along with several Indian spices. 

Turmeric is stuffed with antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds. It enhances immunity and helps us stay healthy. Turmeric milk may also help with respiratory problems, liver problems, inflammation, and digestive problems. Basically, this milk contains ginger, green cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, black pepper and fennel seeds even bay leaves sometime added for better piquancy, these spices, in combination, may help fight inflammation and associated ailments like joint pain, cancer, diabetes, and heart disease.

  • It fights Inflammation and Joint pain: The curcumin in turmeric milk helps fight inflammation and joint pain.
  • It promotes Skin Health: Turmeric is used as a remedy for a number of skin conditions. The spice is also believed to make the skin glow and keep harmful bacteria at bay

Side Effects of Turmeric Milk:

  • Provoke Kidney Stones: Turmeric contains 2% oxalate. At high doses, this can cause or aggravate kidney stones in permitting individuals. Hence, please avoid use if you have kidney issues.
  • Lower Blood Sugar Levels Way Too Much: Direct research is lacking in this regard. Anecdotal evidence suggests that turmeric milk may lower blood sugar levels way too much if taken along with antidiabetic medication. If you are dealing with diabetes, please check with your doctor before you consume turmeric milk. 
  • Cause Iron Deficiency: Excess turmeric may hamper iron absorption. This can lead to iron deficiency in people who do not consume enough iron.

How to take this milk :

Turmeric milk should not be taken if you are having kidney issue, it can also be avoided in case of anemia and diabetes, everything taken in a moderate amount is good for health.

  • 2 Cup Milk (As per your choice )
  • ½ tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 Piece Cinnamon stick
  • 4 Pieces Cloves
  • 2 Piece Green cardamom
  • 4 Pieces Black pepper
  • 1 Piece Each cashew nut, walnut, raisin, and almond (Soaked for 5 hours, and this is totally optional )
  • ½ tsp Fennel seeds
  • ½ Inch Ginger
  • 1 Piece Bay leaf (Optional )
  • 1 tsp Sugar, jaggery or honey even brown sugar can be used (As per your taste you can add any but if you want to add honey then use it after putting the milk in a glass, also the addition of jaggery can curdle the milk so add it in the end.)
  1. Take milk as per your choice and heat it.



  2. Add turmeric powder and mix it when the milk is on the verge of the boil.



  3. Take all the raw spices and dry fruits and grind them to form a paste.



  4. Add the paste to the milk and mix it well.



  5. Strain it and enjoy.
