देव्यष्टकम्

महादेवीं महाशक्तिं भवानीं भववल्लभाम् । भवार्तिभञ्जनकरीं वन्दे त्वां लोकमातरम् ॥ १॥

भक्तप्रियां भक्तिगम्यां भक्तानां कीर्तिवर्धिकाम् । भवप्रियां सतीं देवीं वन्दे त्वां भक्तवत्सलाम् ॥ २॥

अन्नपूर्णां सदापूर्णां पार्वतीं पर्वपूजिताम् । महेश्वरीं वृषारूढां वन्दे त्वां परमेश्वरीम् ॥ ३॥

कालरात्रिं महारात्रिं मोहरात्रिं जनेश्वरीम् । शिवकान्तां शम्भुशक्तिं वन्दे त्वां जननीमुमाम् ॥ ४॥

जगत्कर्त्रीं जगद्धात्रीं जगत्संहारकारिणीम् । मुनिभिः संस्तुतां भद्रां वन्दे त्वां मोक्षदायिनीम् ॥ ५॥

देवदुःखहरामम्बां सदा देवसहायकाम् । मुनिदेवैः सदासेव्यां वन्दे त्वां देवपूजिताम् ॥ ६॥

त्रिनेत्रां शङ्करीं गौरीं भोगमोक्षप्रदां शिवाम् । महामायां जगद्बीजां वन्दे त्वां जगदीश्वरीम् ॥ ७॥

शरणागतजीवानां सर्वदुःखविनाशिनीम् । सुखसम्पत्करां नित्यां वन्दे त्वां प्रकृतिं पराम् ॥ ८॥

शरणागतजीवानां सर्वदुःखविनाशिनीम् । सुखसम्पत्करां नित्यां वन्दे त्वां प्रकृतिं पराम् ॥ ९॥

देव्यष्टकमिदं पुण्यं योगानन्देन निर्मितम् । यः पठेद्भक्तिभावेन लभते स परं सुखम् ॥ १०॥

इति योगानन्दविरचितं श्रीदेव्यष्टकं सम्पूर्णम् ॥

English Meaning : 

I shall meditate upon Lokamata who is the mother of Universe and its living beings, she eradicates miseries and sorrows of the Sansara, she is supreme Goddess, she is powerful, she is Bhavani who is beloved of all, I shall meditate upon Bhakthavatsala who is too compassionate to her worshiper, she is beloved of Lord Shiva, she is fond of intense devotion, she is perceivable through intense devotion and faith, she augments fame of her passionate worshiper, I shall meditate upon Parameshvari who is the consort of Lord Parameshvara, she is mounted on celestial bull, she is Maheshvari, she is Annapoorna who symbolizes abundance of grains, she has pleasing disposition always, she is Parvathi who is worshiped on the auspicious days of full moon and auspicious days, I shall mediate upon Janani who is the mother of Universe and its living beings, she is personified as Uma, she is dearest darling of Shiva, she is female force of Shambu, she is Goddess of living beings, she represents Kaalaratri which is the darkest hours of night, Maharathri which is the night of deluge at the end of Kalpa, she is Moharathri as well, I shall meditate upon supreme Goddess who is the provider of Moksha, she symbolizes auspiciousness, she is worshiped by illustrious Rishis and sages, she is the cause of Universe, she preserves it and ultimately absorbs the same, I shall meditate upon Devapoojitha who is worshiped by all the deities, she is worshiped by illustrious Rishis and Sages, she is divine personified in order to eradicate the grief of deities, she is Amba who always works for the welfare of the deities, I shall meditate upon Jagadheeshvari who is the Goddess of the Universe, she is the source of Universe and its living beings, she is a great illusionist, she is Shiva who is the dearest consort of Lord Shiva, she is Gauri who symbolizes eternal bliss, she provides Moksha to her passionate devotees, she has three eyes, and she is Shankari /consort of Shankara who symbolizes auspiciousness, I shall meditate upon supreme Goddess who symbolizes Prakrithi, she is beyond description, she is the provider of permanent happiness and wealth to her worshiper, she eradicates miseries and sorrows of the distressed people who are surrendered at her lotus feet, Sri Devyashtakam is highly propitious hymn was composed by Sri Yoganandha, whoever reads or recites these verses with intense devotion would attain highest of the pieties.
