Vrat ki chutney | Phalahari Chutney | Peanut & coconut chutney

Vrat ki chutney or falahari chutney are prepared without using onion and garlic. Today I am sharing this phalahari chutney or satvik chutney recipes with easily available ingredients like peanuts & coconut.

This quick and simple Phalahari Vrat ki Chutney is ideal for any fasting day. The term phalahari or falahari refers to ‘phal’ that means fruit and ‘aahar’ means diet – meaning diet that contains fruits and non-grain items. During fasting days, people consume falahari diet that consists of fruits, vegetables, dry nuts and some dairy products. No onion and garlic are consumed in this diet and vrat recipes are prepared with few simple ingredients.

Let’s learn step by step process to prepare this chutney.

Vrat ki chutney | Phalahari Chutney | Peanut & coconut chutney

  • ⅓ Cup Peanut
  • ¼ Cup Chunks of fresh coconut
  • ¼ tsp Rock salt
  • ¼ tsp Roasted cumin powder
  • ⅙ tsp Black pepper powder
  • ½ Slice Lemon (It can be replaced with 2 tbsp of curd )
  • 3 Pieces Green chilli
  1. In a wok add ⅓ cup of peanuts and dry roast it.



  2. Add coconut chunks and green chilli roast them, switch off the flame and let it cool down.



  3. In a grinding jar add all the ingredients along with rock salt, black pepper powder, lemon juice, roasted cumin powder and lemon juice, grind them into a smooth paste. Serve it whenever required.
