Basella Leaves/Malabar Spinach (Pui) Pakoda

Basella leaf or malabar spinach is known as Pui or poe in Hindi is very nutritious, it is low in calorie and high in vitamins, minerals, antioxidants etc. Including this in diet may fight against several diseases. So here I’ve brought a very tasty recipe with these leaves. Let’s learn step by step process to prepare basella leaves pakoda.

Basella Leaves/Malabar Spinach (Pui) Pakoda

  • 1 cup Basella leaves
  • 2 tbsp Rice Flour
  • 2 tbsp Gram Flour
  • 1 tbsp samolina
  • 1 tsp Red Chili Powder
  • 1 tsp Mustard Powder
  • 1 tsp Garam Masala Powder
  • 1 tsp Coriander Powder
  • 2 tsp Rock Salt/Sea Salt
  • 1 tsp Maggi Masala
  • 1 tsp Curry Powder
  1. Take basella leaves and wash it with tap water and chop them as shown in the image.
  2. Add rice flour, gram flour, semolina in it.
  3. With the help of spoon give it a stir.
  4. Add all the spices, like turmeric powder, red chili powder, curry powder, salt, coriander powder, garam masala powder and maggi masala powder.
  5. Add four tbsp of water and mix it well and put it aside for 15 minutes.
  6. Heat oil in a pan and fry it.
  7. Let it cook from both the sides by turning it with the help of fork.
  8. Serve it with any of your favorite chutney.
