Dahi Vada Recipe

As everyone loves dahi vada recipe but we wait for holi festival to enjoy this recipe! Navrati is also perfect for dahi vada, as few of us do not eat onion garlic during navratri, some of us shun eating grains and most of us leave non vegetarian food aside. In this dahi vada recipe I’ve used grain but shun the usage of onion garlic. Let’s learn step by step process to prepare this delicious recipe.

Dahi Vada Recipe

  • 1 cup Soaked split black lentils (Urad dal) (Soaked for minimum 5 hours)
  • 1 cup Curd
  • 1 cup Refined oil (For fryying)
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tbsp Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Tamarind (Imli) chutney
  • 1 tbsp Roasted cumin and carom seeds powder
  1. Take soaked split black lentils and wash it with fresh water, grind them with the same consistency as shown in the image. Also keep mixing the batter so that it can become smooth, add salt and keep it aside.
  2. Take curd and add salt and sugar into it and grind them for better consistency.
  3. Heat oil in a pan and prepare vada as shown in the image.
  4. Fry them from both the sides but do not make it dark.
  5. Take water in a pan and dip vadas just after frying into it.
  6. Squeeze extra water from dahi vada and mix them in curd mixture and put them in air tight container for further use.
  7. Serve dahi vada by drizzling few drops of tamarind chutney and sprinkle cumin-carom seeds roasted powder.
