Dubki Recipe

‘Dubki’ is an authentic dish from ancient Indian kitchen, generally served with rice or chapatis. It is still being cooked in some of the eastern and northern parts of India. It is definitely easy to prepare, easily digestive and it is high in nutritional value. Let’s learn how to cook Dubki.

Dubki Recipe

  • 1 cup Black Split Lentils (Urad)
  • 1 tsp Panch phoran
  • 1 tbsp Mustard Oil
  • 1 cup Chopped Tomatoes
  • 8 Pieces Garlic Cloves
  • 1 tsp Coriander Seeds
  • 1 tbsp Mustard seeds
  • 1 Piece Lemon
  • 1 tbsp Chopped Green chili
  • 1 tsp Asafoetida
  • 1 tbsp Salt
  • 1 tbsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 tsp Kashmiri lal mirch powder
  • 1 tbsp Amchoor Powder
  1. Take all the ingredients as shown in the image.
  2. Take overnight soaked black split lentils, wash it and strain it.
  3. Grind them.
  4. Add a pinch of salt, turmeric powder, coriander seeds and kashmiri lal mirch powder.
  5. Take a whirl around.
  6. Add chopped tomato, green chili, mustard seeds, coriander seeds and garlic cloves in a grinding jar and grind them.
  7. Heat a wok.
  8. Add a tbsp of panch phoran seeds.
  9. Add mustard oil in the wok and let them splutter.
  10. Add Grind ingredients.
  11. Add salt and turmeric powder in the wok.
  12. Add amchoor powder, water and cover the wok with lid.
  13. Let it boil.
  14. When it will start to boil then start adding the dumplings as shown in the image.
  15. In the end add the solution of grind ingredient and water.
  16. Add chopped coriander leaves and lemon juice into the wok.
  17. Serve it with rice or chapatis.
