Flattened Brown Rice (Poha) Recipe

Poha Jalabi is very famous breakfast dish of Indore (India), but its delicacy and tranquility is being displayed in breakfast dishes of Indian subcontinents. Here I’ve used brown flattened rice for preparing poha recipe. Le’t learn step by step process to prepare poha recipe.

Flattened Brown Rice (Poha) Recipe

  • 1 cup Soaked flattened brown Rice (one can use normal flattened rice)
  • 2 tbsp Peanuts
  • 1 tbsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 tbsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Sugar (It is optional)
  • 1 tbsp Lemon Juice
  • 1 tsp Black Mustard Seeds
  • 1 tsp Curry Leaves
  • 1 tbsp Chopped Onion
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 tbsp Vegetable Oil
  1. Dry roast peanuts and put it aside.
  2. Heat a pan and splutter cumin seeds, curry leaf and mustard seeds, add 1 tbsp of vegetable oil.
  3. Add flattened rice which was soaked and strained already.
  4. Add mustard powder salt and roasted peanuts.
  5. Mix it well and keep stirring it.
  6. Add lemon juice and mix it well.
  7. Sprinkle some shev and serve it with Jalabi.

  1. Can you please tell me where can I get brown rice poha? I have only seen white flattened rice.
