Kathal (Jack-fruit Curry) Sabji Recipe

Jack fruit curry is very delicious and cooked often in every Indian kitchen, people prefer this recipe with rice or any flat breads, previously I prepared this curry with different method, this time I’ve tried with different technique to enhance its taste, this curry can only be prepared with raw jack fruit, ripened one can not be used for curry preparation. Let’s learn step by step process to prepare this recipe.

Kathal (Jack-fruit Curry) Sabji Recipe

  • 1 Piece Boiled potato
  • 1/2 Piece Boiled jackfruit
  • 1 Piece Bay leaf
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 tsp Coriander Seeds
  • 2 tbsp Mustard Oil
  • 1 tsp kasoori Methi (Dried Fenugreek Leaves)
  • 1 tsp Asafoetida
  • 1 tsp Maggi Masala
  • 1 tsp Kitchen king powder
  • 1 tbsp Turmeric Power
  • 1 tbsp Salt (As per your taste )
  • 1 tbsp Kashmiri mirch powder
  • 1 tsp Coriander Powder
  • 1 tsp Garam Masala Powder
  • 1 tbsp Chopped Coriander leaves
  1. Take jack-fruit and potato.
  2. Boil them for 30 minutes.
  3. Strain them and let them cool down.
  4. Cut jack-fruit into small pieces and break boiled potatoes with hand.
  5. Heat oil in the pan.
  6. In a pan heat oil and fry jack-fruit pieces.
  7. When they turn brown then remove it from oil.
  8. Heat oil in a pan and add bay leaf, coriander seeds and cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  9. Take all the ingredients as shown in the image.
  10. Take the chopped ingredients as shown in the image.
  11. In the same pan add the chopped ingredients.
  12. When they turns translucent then add boiled potatoes in the pan.
  13. Add jack-fruit in the same pan and mix salt.
  14. Add kasoori methi in the pan.
  15. Add water in the pan and let them cook for few minutes.
  16. Cover and cook them for few minutes.
  17. It is ready, sprinkle some coriander leaves.
  18. Serve it hot.
