Makhana (Lotus Seeds) Kheer

Makhana is considered as non grain and eaten during fast, it is aquatic crop which is harvested and cultivated in several districts of northern Bihar (India). It is highly nutritious and considered as super food. Now I am trying to give it a sweet flavor, let’s learn how to prepare makhana kheer.

Makhana (Lotus Seeds) Kheer

  • 1 cup Makhana (Lotus Seeds)
  • 1 tbsp Roasted Almonds
  • 1 tbsp Dessicated coconut Powder
  • 1 tbsp Cashewnuts
  • 1 tbsp Resins
  • 2 tbsp Sugar
  1. Take a pan and dry roast makhana or lotus seeds and put it aside.
  2. When it cools down then roughly grind it just by one whirl around in a grinder.
  3. Take the ingredients as shown in the image.
  4. Take a pan and add boiled milk into it, then add all the ingredients except sugar and resins and keep stirring with the help of spoon, when it cools down add resins and sugar into it.
  5. The recipe is ready to be served.
