Missi Roti Recipe

Flatbread has a long history in our ancient era, few says it originated in Persia but in our ancient scriptures we find reference of flatbreads, according to Ramcharitmanas which dates back to 1600 BC the word rotika which is sanskrit translation of roti that is flatbread has been used. Which shows there is a long history. Coming to my recipe which is missi roti, is a variance of flatbread. Let’s learn how to prepare missi roti recipe.

Missi Roti Recipe

  • 1/2 cup Wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup Gram Flour ( Besan)
  • 1 tbsp Finely Chopped Onion
  • 1 tbsp Finely Chopped Coriander leaves
  • 1 tbsp Finely Chopped Green Chili
  • 1 tsp Funnel Seeds
  • 1 tsp Celery Seeds (Ajwain)
  • 1 tsp Kalonji or Mangrail, Black Caraway, Nigella,
  • 1 tbsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 tbsp Red Chili Powder
  • 1 tbsp Salt (As per your taste )
  • 1 tsp Black Salt
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper Powder
  • 1 tbsp Mustard Oil/Clarified Butter
  1. Sieve both the flours.
  2. Take all the ingredients in the mixing bowl.
  3. Prepare a dough as shown in the image.
  4. Divide the dough in the shapes and prepare the flatbread.
  5. When flatbread get roasted then apply clarified butter and prepare the missi roti.
  6. Missi roti is ready to be served.
