Moong (Green Gram) Kadhi Recipe

Kadhi can be cooked by several ways, here I am trying a cooking method of Gujarat, in this recipe I have used the same cooking technique which I used in kadhi badi recipe but the difference is green gram. Let’s learn how to cook this recipe.

Moong (Green Gram) Kadhi Recipe

  • 1 cup Gram Flour ( Besan)
  • 1 cup Curd
  • 1 cup Moong Beans
  • 1 Piece Medium chopped Onion
  • 1 tbsp Chopped Ginger
  • 1 tbsp Finely Chopped Garlic
  • 1 tbsp Chopped Green chili
  • 1 tbsp Finely Chopped Coriander leaves
  • 1 tsp Black Mustard Seeds
  • 1 tbsp Salt
  • 1 tbsp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 Pinch Asafoetida
  • 1 tbsp Mustard Oil
  1. Take moong beans and wash it with water. (Note: For quick cooking take soaked moong beans.
  2. Take all the ingredients ready for the recipe as shown in the image.
  3. In a grinding jar add curd and gram flour and take a whirl around.
  4. In a cooking pan add black mustard seeds, asafoetida, cumin seeds and let it tamper.
  5. Add mustard oil followed by chopped onion, chopped garlic, chopped ginger, chopped green chili and cook it unless it rawness get reduced.
  6. Add salt, mustard powder and moong beans as shown in the image.
  7. Mix the ingredients well and stir and cook it for 1 minutes.
  8. Add curd and gram flour solution in the same pan.
  9. Add half a cup of water if required and mix it well and keep stirring and cooking it for 20 to 30 minutes. ( I have used non soaked moong beans that’s why more time got consumed)
  10. Serve it garnishing it with coriander leaves.

  1. Kadhi looks awesome, however I have to say it is no where close to Sindhi kadhi. It is more of Punjabi kadhi.
