Oal/Jimikand Achar (Pickle) Recipe

Oal which is also known as jimikand basically grown in the tropical regions, it is very nutritious as it contains carbohydrates, vitamins, proteins, minerals etc. There are several recipes which can be prepared by Oal which includes curry, pickles, chutneys, chokha/bharta etc. Let’s learn how to prepare Oal achar pickle recipe.

Oal (Jimikand) Pickle Recipe

  • 1 cup Oal
  • 15 Cloves Garlic
  • 10 Pieces Green Chili
  • 5 Pieces Chopped Ginger
  • 2 tbsp Celery Seeds (Ajwain)
  • 1 tbsp Kalonji or Mangrail, Black Caraway, Nigella,
  • 4 tbsp Amchoor Powder/Lemon
  • 1 tbsp Salt
  • 2 tbsp Black Salt
  • 1 tbsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 cup Mustard Oil
  1. Take Oal remove its cover and cut it into small piece.
  2. Take all the ingredients as shown in the image.
  3. Take the spices as shown in the image.
  4. Grind Oal either in a grinding jar or traditionally. (I have used traditional method)
  5. Take a container and put the grind Oal into it.
  6. Take all the ingredients and grind it separately.
  7. Mix all the ingredients as shown in the image.
  8. Add salt, black salt, amchoor, kalonji, ajwain and mustard powder.
  9. Add mustard Oil in it and let it dry under the sun for 4 days and preserve it.
