Palak (Spinach) Khichdi Recipe

Spinach khichdi is very healthy and quick recipe which can be served with side dishes like chokha, chutney etc. Let’s learn step by step process to prepare spinach.

Palak (Spinach) Khichdi Recipe

  • 1/2 cup Soaked Rice
  • 1/2 cup Grind Boiled Spinach
  • 1/2 cup Mixture of Soaked Lentils (I've taken Split green gram (moong dal)and pink lentils (Masoor dal))
  • 1 tbsp Chopped Ginger & Garlic
  • 1 tbsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 tbsp Green Chili
  • 1 Piece Chopped Tomatoes
  • 1 tbsp Clarified Butter (Ghee)
  • 1 tsp Degi Mirch / Red Chili Powder
  • 1 tbsp Cumin Seeds
  • 2 tbsp Chopped Onion
  1. In a pressure cooker add cumin seeds and let them temper then add 1 tbsp of clarified butter. Add chopped ginger, garlic and green chili into it.
  2. In the cooker add chopped onion and tomatoes.
  3. Add soaked rice and lentils into it.
  4. Add salt, turmeric powder and red chili powder.
  5. Sir fry them for sometime.
  6. Add boiled and grind spinach into it.
  7. Mix them well and add 1 cup of water and pressure cook them for 10 minutes or with 3 whistle.
  8. Serve it with chokha, chutney, curd and papad.
