Postpartum Spice Halwa (Pudding) Recipe

Today we are posting a recipe for new mothers, motherhood is miraculously blissful as it gives an opportunity to carry a new life, which seems easy but it is not so. Although most of the people take this as natural phenomena but it is a huge examination for new parents, specially for a mother. A mother should take care of her mental and physical health during these nine months.

Before becoming a mother, a women should know the snags she would have to face during every steps and she should be well prepared both physically & mentally beforehand, as those who don’t get the opportunity to get pampered during these period they suffers a lot later on while ascending towards their old age.

In India there are several version of vegetarian postpartum recipes, which increases breast milk, recovers from blood loss, infections & enhance nutritional balance of new mother.

We have brought spice mixed halwa recipe for new mothers which is bunched with several ingredients whose concoction adds charm on the face of new mothers, this will increase Brest milk, Ingredients like turmeric fights against infection, dried ginger regulates acidity and other spices recovers internally, even hemoglobin and other vitamins deficiency can easily be outmoded, dry fruits and clarified butter strengthen bones and relives body pain.

Intake: Every morning or evening take one spoon of this pudding along with lukewarm milk (Note: Don’t eat this recipe with water) Let’s learn step by step process to prepare this postpartum halwa recipe.

Postpartum Spice Halwa (Pudding) Recipe

  • 1 Cup Raw turmeric (Washed & Peeled off )
  • 1 Cup Cumin seeds (Soaked in water for 5 to 6 hours )
  • 1/2 Cup Dried ginger powder (Sonth)
  • 1/2 Cup Funnel seeds
  • 2 Cup Clarified butter
  • 2 Cup Jaggery
  • 1 Cup Each dry fruits like Cashew nuts, Raisins, Dried dates, Lotus seeds, etc (One can use any dry fruits of one’s choice)
  1. Take cumin seeds and soak them in water for five to six hours.



  2. Take raw turmeric clean them properly then peel off the outer cover, cut them and transfer them in a grinding jar.



  3. Take a whirl around and turmeric paste is ready.



  4. Transfer the cumin seeds into the same jar and take a whirl around.



  5. Transfer  both turmeric pastes in the same container.



  6. Take all the dry fruits as per your choice.



  7. Heat clarified butter in the wok.



  8. Add both the turmeric and cumin seeds paste in the work.



  9. Fry them unless aroma starts to emit.



  10. Add all the dry fruits into it.



  11. Mix them well.



  12. Add sonth (dried ginger powder) and mix them well.



  13. Add funnel seeds and mix them well.



  14. Cook on the low to medium flame, and keep stirring in between, it needs patience. Meanwhile add jaggery and turn off the flame.



  15. Recipe is ready! Take one spoon of this halwa with lukewarm Milk.

  2. When jaggery need to be added not mentioned in recipe

    • There are so many raisins, so we skipped adding it due to the demand of new mom, but during the second last step you can add jaggery and turn off the flame.
