Masaledar Aloo Chokha Recipe

Masaledar means spicy but it doesn’t follow the synonym of hotness of chilli inside it, spicy in India means the aroma of different spices conglomerated together in a recipe to make it more flavorful. I’ve prepared this recipe with a concoction of spices to get the juices of every aroma in it. Let’s learn step by step process to prepare this recipe.


Masaledar Aloo Chokha Recipe

  • 1 cup Boiled and mashed potato
  • 1 tsp Chopped Ginger
  • 1 Pinch Asafoetida
  • 1 tsp Green Chili
  • 1 tbsp Mustard Oil
  • 1 tbsp Chopped Onion
  • 1 tsp kasoori Methi (Dried Fenugreek Leaves)
  • 1 tbsp Chopped Coriander leaves
  • 1 tbsp Chopped Tomatoes
  • 1 tbsp Green Peas
  • 1 tsp Kashmiri lal mirch powder
  • 1 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 tsp Coriander Powder
  1. Heat oil in a pan and add ginger. onion, asafoetida, kasoori methi and green chili.
  2. When rawness disappears then add chopped tomatoes into the same pan and give it a good mix.
  3. Add salt, coriander powder, turmeric powder, kashhmiri lal mirch powder in the pan along with salt.
  4. Add mashed potatoes in the same pan and give it a mix.
  5. Use masher to mash them in the pan.
  6. Switch off the flame and sprinkle coriander leaves.
  7. Serve it with khichdi, litti, rice or chapatis etc.
